Jotun (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was established in 1983. It is located in Shah Alam. The company produces decorative paints, as well as marine coatings and heavy duty corrosion protective coatings- among others for the important oil industry. A new, ultra-modern factory was completed in 1992 to produce advance decorative paints, marine coatings, corrosion protective coatings and powder coatings.
In 1999, a research and development laboratory of international status was built in Shah Alam, with the main intent of providing training in reserach and development as well as transfer of techology in the region.
In Malaysia, Jotun Paints is the market leader in advanced Marine coatings for ships and corrosion protective coatings for heavy duty industries like oil and gas and petrochemical. In the decorative or architectural market, Jotun is a leading supplier for prestigious projects such as condominiums, hotels and townships.
One of Jotun's greatest achievements is the Multicolor System, a high technology concept which is a computerised tinting colour machine was introduced to retailers in 1988. The multicolor tinting machine allows the customer to customise colours form the 10,000 colours available, and in the process reduces retail storage space.Today, there are 200 Jotun Multicolor Centres available all over Malaysia.
