The Sarawak Film Society (SFS) is a non-profit cultural organization committed to bringing the art and craft of foreign and independent films from all over the world to the local audience. SFS would like to position itself as an alternative screening house as the films that we screen are either unavailable in the market or not commercially screened in the local cinemas. SFS is currently the only film society in East Malaysia.
SFS was formed by a group of independent filmmakers and filmlovers from Sarawak. It all started as a YahooGroup called Sarawakfilmtalk where we discussed and mingled our mind about films. The idea of forming a film society came about from this interaction. SFS is now a fully registered body under the Registry Office in 2004.
